Business of the Month
Each month, one business is selected and featured across the Owosso Main Street website and social channels. They also enjoy a highlight in the monthly Community Newsletter, reaching our local audience and beyond.
Wondering how your business can be featured? Getting involved with Owosso Main Street activities is a fantastic start! Plus, creating connections with neighboring businesses, participating in seasonal decor, or hosting special events goes a long way.
Join us in keeping Downtown Owosso vibrant, and your business could be next in the spotlight!
Revolving Loan & Grant Program
The Revolving Loan & Grant Program supports the growth and revitalization of Owosso’s Central Business District, Corridor Business District, and General Business District by providing financial assistance for projects such as historic preservation, façade improvements, building accessibility, upper-story housing, and restaurant and retail upgrades. This program is designed to help businesses and property owners invest in our community’s future.
For a preliminary meeting to discuss your project and how the program may apply, contact Lizzie Fredrick at [email protected].

Match on Main is a grant program offered through the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) to support new or expanding place-based businesses in eligible Michigan communities. The program offers up to $25,000 in reimbursement funding for eligible expenses, with a required 10% cash match.
Who can apply? Owosso Main Street is the official applicant for this grant program. Downtown businesses and nonprofits apply to Owosso Main Street, which may submit up to two applications to the MEDC. Being selected by Owosso Main Street does not guarantee funding, as all final award decisions are made by the MEDC. View our map identifying the OMS & DDA boundaries to determine if your business location is eligible.
Owosso Main Street and the Michigan Small Business Development Center (SBDC) have scheduled an in-person Informational Meeting for February 10th at 6 PM to help downtown business owners—and those considering opening downtown—understand the program and ask questions before applying.
Applications to Owosso Main Street are due March 15th. Submit your application in a single email to: [email protected]

District Commission
Formed in the fall of 2010, this regulatory commission is responsible for reviewing all applications for exterior work that is completed within the Downtown Historic District Commission (HDC) boundaries.
The HDC board comprises seven members who use the Secretary of the Interior’s Guidelines to review work permits. The historic designation also permits contributing structures within the district to seek additional funding assistance for redevelopment projects throughout the State of Michigan.
As of 2015, this district is on the National Register of Historic Places.
